Which Fan Fest Society Should We Create Next?
We could name countless fandoms we want to celebrate. But we need your help, so we’ll be listening to your suggestions.
There are definitely one that stick out to us. Ones we think celebrate strong women, dynamic relationships, ethnic diversity, societal structures and so on. You know, stories that change your life for the better. Ones that getting together for a fan festival experience makes sense. Ones that could be propelled throughout the years. Ones you want to be a part of because its beneficial to your well-being and mental health.
What’s the Difference Between A “Convention” and a “Fan Fest Society” Event?
So much.
Our events aren’t in convention center buildings and the purpose isn’t to meet a celebrity, but it’s been a much welcomed benefit. Our events are way smaller, more intimate, wildly interactive and totally unlike a “con”. We have found value in our version of a “fan fest” and think it’s what makes us special. Whereas a convention may allow you to snap a photo with an A-list actor or the top of the call sheet, our events allow you to experience a fandom through interaction, those who love meeting their fans. Some of our absolute favorite people on earth are the details people on set, the fringe characters, the cast & crew that just want to be immersed in the fandom themselves because they were fans to begin with. This isn’t a pretentious group, this is the most lovely group of humans we know.
How Do We Create a Fan Fest Society That Meets In Person Each Year?
It’s a tremendous amount of work. It requires a show that has a following, a group of cast & crew that wants to live life alongside their fans and the support or blessing of a network. Basically, the perfect storm of fandom and then a whole lot of momentous effort.
